Assessment & Planning

Initial analysis of tooth shade and treatment planning

The initial situation was analyzed in terms of shade, translucency, and surface characteristics in order to define a precise layering concept for anterior restorations using els extra low shrinkage® composite.

Preparation Phase

Enamel preparation for the additive technique

Minimally invasive labial preparation to create optimal bonding conditions while preserving as much enamel as possible.

Enamel Framework Step

Palatal shell with Incisal Transparent

Build-up of the palatal shell with IT (Incisal Transparent) to stabilize the incisal base and provide an anatomical reference.

Esthetic Layering

Incisal characterization with SW++

Selective effect layering with SW++ to create halo and translucency characteristics.

Shade & Volume Construction

Body build-up with Snow White, opacity control with Snow White++

Build-up of the main dentin mass to define shape, volume, and brightness.
Targeted placement of SW to adjust opacity, contrast, and value.

Final Stage

Final enamel layer with Incisal Transparent, finishing and micro-texturing

A harmonious final layer to achieve natural translucency and depth.
Fine contouring, micro- and macro-texturing, followed by final polishing.

Esthetic Case Analysis

The focus was on a harmonious incisal edge position, balanced proportions, and functionally stable contact zones. Digital planning provided the foundation for precise layering, optimal shade selection, and predictable integration of the direct restorations.

Preparation and Surface Management

For the additive technique, the enamel was prepared minimally invasively to create optimal bonding conditions. The preparation ensured maximum enamel preservation for reliable bonding and stable margins. Controlled surface management was then performed to prepare for the palatal base and body layers.

els-comp.png

Build Up of the Palatal Base with Incisal Transparent

The palatal shell was built using Incisal Transparent to precisely define the incisal edge and create the structural foundation for the complete layering process. This anatomical reference enables controlled 3D shaping, stabilizes the incisal edge, and ensures reproducible light guidance across the final enamel body.

Incisal Characterization and Optical Effect Design

Using Incisal Blue and additional effect shades, halo effects, translucency zones, and vertical light dynamics were created. This characterization reproduces natural optical depth without compromising structural integrity. This step establishes the foundation for realistic tooth esthetics and harmonious transitions in the final layering.

Body Layering with Snow White

The main dentin body was sculpted using Snow White to define the restoration’s volume, form, and brightness. The balanced opacity of the material creates natural luminosity and provides a stable foundation for incisal light effects. This results in harmonious proportions, functional contact points, and a realistic tooth architecture.

Opacity Control with Snow White++

Targeted application of Snow White++ enabled precise adjustment of opacity, value, and light blocking. This step ensures controlled color depth, stable brightness levels, and consistent light dynamics, essential for natural looking anterior restorations and accurate shade integration.

Final Enamel Layer and Surface Refinement

The final labial layer was applied using Incisal Transparent to harmonize translucency, gloss, and depth. This was followed by anatomical refinement with micro and macro textures and a multi step high gloss polishing. This combined surface treatment maximizes light reflection and gives the restoration a natural, vital appearance.

Intraoral Placement and Final Evaluation

During clinical placement, marginal integrity, contact points, and function were evaluated. The restored teeth showed stable occlusion and harmonious integration into the existing dentition. Final polishing and inspection confirmed precise shade matching, natural light dynamics, and durable esthetic results.
