Over Three Decades of Excellence in Dentistry

Management change at SAREMCO DENTAL AG

After 17 years, Franca Schmid, Managing Director of Saremco Dental, hands over the operational management to younger hands. Sven Hauser, Head Brand & Client and long-time employee, will take over as CEO on July 1, 2024.

Sven Hauser is an industry expert and a dedicated leader. «His knowledge of the dental industry and his deep understanding of the company’s values, coupled with his strategic expertise and keen sense of market developments, form an excellent basis for leading Saremco into the next phase of growth,» says Schmid.

Under Franca Schmid’s leadership, Saremco Dental has not only strengthened its position as an innovative manufacturer of highly biocompatible restorative materials, but has also made significant progress in the emerging field of 3D printing. Franca Schmid remains the owner and President of SAREMCO’s Board of Directors and will continue to support the company with her expertise.

«My task,» says Hauser, «is to continue to successfully implement the existing strategy and to further develop the organization. This includes continuing our international growth strategy, focusing on our core products and making the company even more modern, digital and customer-oriented. Long-term partnerships, customer focus and innovative, well-tolerated dental materials are not just buzzwords for us, but values that we live by.»

Quality – Innovation –  Reliability

Saremco Dental is an independent Swiss company in the field of light-curing dental products. These include composites and adhesives for the classical treatment of carious teeth, as well as 3D printing materials for the production of crowns, bridges and dentures. The products are sold to dentists and dental laboratories through distributors. Saremco Dental now serves more than 60 countries worldwide.

The company focuses on innovations in which it can play a pioneering role, concentrating on biocompatible materials and advanced technologies. Products are developed in collaboration with numerous universities in Switzerland and abroad. Production takes place exclusively in the St. Galler Rheintal, in Rebstein. For over 30 years, Saremco Dental has been manufacturing dental materials that meet the highest standards of functionality, safety and aesthetics.

Focusing on Biocompatibility

The health of patients and users is always a central concern for Saremco Dental. Dental materials should not only look natural and be durable but also be well-tolerated. Statistically, every 25th patient already shows allergic symptoms to dental materials.1

Therefore, questions about the toxicology and allergology of these materials are gaining increasing interest. (Co)monomer compounds are used in dentistry, e.g., in composites and dentin adhesives. These compounds can be released from the materials and, after absorption, enter the human body. Within the group of (methyl)methacrylates, TEGDMA and HEMA are among the substances with the most frequent sensitization. Dental personnel may have frequent and direct contact with these substances and can thus be considered a risk group.2

Saremco Dental places special emphasis on compatibility and refrains from using TEGDMA and HEMA. This ensures that Saremco Dental’s dental filling materials offer excellent protection for patients with proven allergies to these substances. Additionally, they provide prophylactic protection against allergies to these substances for both dental personnel and patients.

Pioneer in the Field of 3D Printing

Saremco Dental has successfully transferred its extensive and long-standing expertise in light-curing plastics for dentistry to the development of restorative materials for 3D printing. This development was carried out in close collaboration with universities, engineers, and dentists. With the approval of the material in 2017, Saremco Dental became the first company worldwide to offer a printable material for definitive crowns, inlays, onlays, veneers, and prosthetic teeth. The demand for the 3D printing material Saremco print CROWNTEC has been particularly high in the USA, South and Central America, and the Middle East. Based on sales figures, approximately 1.5 million crowns have been printed and implanted in patients. Clinical data confirm the longevity of the materials and show a very high level of patient satisfaction.

Successful Transition to MDR and FDA

At the end of 2023, Saremco Dental conducted its annual audit of the quality management system for the first time under the Medical Device Single Audit Program (MDSAP) for the USA, Canada, and Australia and successfully achieved certification. At the same time, the company also attained certification under the new Medical Device Regulation (MDR, EU 2017/745).

By voluntarily certifying under the Medical Device Single Audit Program (MDSAP) and obtaining MDR certification, Saremco Dental demonstrates its adherence to the highest current, globally recognized quality standards in the medical technology industry.
